Tips & config

# install
$ sudo apt install jupp # Debian / Ubuntu
$ doas pkg_add jupp              # OpenBSD

# customise: copy the system rc, then edit your copy
$ cp /etc/joe/joerc ~/.joerc      # path varies by distro

# one-off options
$ jupp -nobackups -tab 4 -spaces file.c

Personal reference, not affiliated with MirBSD. Key bindings follow the stock rc; if a binding differs on your box, ^K H is authoritative.
